NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP RACE RESULTS (Friday Group J)

National Auto Sport Association (NASA) 2010 National Championships presented by Toyo Tires.

Justin Irwin, who finished second in Thursday’s qualifying race, moved up and won Friday’s qualifying race in the Legends class.  Justin Irwin, who set the fast lap of 2:16.144, was sponsored by Frank’s Supply.  In second place was Bobby Pugh (who won Thursdays qualifier) sponsored by Stillwater Suzuki.  Cody Poage finished third (where he finished the day prior as well) in his Elite Motorsports sponsored Legends car.

 

Performance Touring B

 

Ricky Johnson, sponsored by goboogoogo.com, pulled off the win in his Mini Cooper S during the second qualifying race.  In second place was Karl Chicca in his Life’s Good Racing Number 33x Chevrolet Camaro sponsored by Hawk Performance and AIP Electronics.  Third place went to James Ray in his Ford Mustang sponsored by Diamond Warranty Corp. and Steeda.  Ray finished third in both qualifying races earning him a front row spot for the championship race grid.

 

Performance Touring C

 

The Performance Touring C second qualifying race was a mix up from the previous qualifying race.  Donna Gilio put her Acura Integra across the line first (she was third previously).  She is sponsored by Hankook Tires and AIM Tires.  Scott Shelton finished second in an RX-8 sponsored by Mothers, Hoosier Tires and Mazda Speed.  In third was Dennis Holloway, also in an RX-8 sponsored by Mothers, Hoosier Tires and MazdaSpeed.

 

Performance Touring D

 

Marc Hoover driving his HooverSpeed, NRA, Hoosier Tire sponsored Mazda Miata won his second qualifying race at the NASA 2010 National Championships earning him a pole position start for the championship race.  Patrick Smith, sponsored by Voodie Racing, Hoosier Tires and Hawk Brakes finished second (for the second time) in PTD qualifying races, and he will start on the front row for the championship race.  Derrick Malcolm, sponsored by Enterprise Automation finished third.

 

Performance Touring E

 

Kyle Jones, sponsored by BVTAmerican.com, won his second qualifying race earning him the pole position for the PTE national championship race.  In second place was 15 year old Tyler Vance sponsored by TMG, Rush Motorsport and Sparco in his Mazda Miata.  In third place was another Mazda Miata driven by Randy Evans.

 

Performance Touring F

 

Again running alone in PTF, and thus winning his second qualifying race, was David Golik driving a Mazda RX-7 sponsored by MazdaSpeed, Hoosier Tires and Konig.

 

The two separate qualifying races (one Thursday and one Friday) determine grid positions for NASA National Championship races Saturday and Sunday September 18-19, 2010, at Miller Motorsports Park.
