... the recently renovated Reno-Fernley Raceway. Jeff Lepper, the new Northern Nevada Regional Director is pleased to bring NASA’s High Performance Driving Events (HPDE) and racing back to Northern Nevada. “I am so happy to return to Reno-Fernley Raceway. John Wood, Reno-Fernley Raceway track manager and I, have been working hard to bring the NASA experience to the residents and racers in Northern Nevada. I can’t wait for our first event,” Commented Jeff Lepper. NASA had previously run at the track when it first opened and Wood is excited to have NASA return. “We could not be more excited to partner with an organization like NASA. I know our drivers will be excited as well,” said Wood.
The first event is scheduled for Saturday, October 15th 2011. NASA will run their popular HPDE program as well as a testing group for racers. The 2012 season is also shaping up with three events on the calendar.
About Reno-Fernley Raceway: Reno Fernley Raceway is a modern motor sports facility located in northwestern Nevada. The Property sits atop 422 pristine acres in the foothills between Reno and Fernley. The Racetrack boasts over four miles of paved high performance roadway which can be used in 10 separate configurations. Track paving is asphalt and 50 feet in width encompassing sufficient distance to stage three or more different “driving tracks”. Terrain is varied and captures: moderate to extreme elevation changes; hair-pin turns; off camber turns; blind turns and hill crests; increasing radius turns; decreasing radius turns; merging lanes; esses; and a dedicated skid-pad area. The paddock area includes seven acres for parking and vehicle storage.
