Crevier Takes on the Big Boys
CREVIER BMW’S RACING MINI COOPER TACKLES THE BIG BOYS AT HISTORY MAKING 25-HOUR ENDURANCE RACE

“We think this is the classic competition between the tortoise and the hare” says Team Captain Judy A. Ray, “The Mini Cooper race car is a bullet proof machine that will take a licking and keep on kicking. We believe we have a very good chance to take the E3 Class and place extremely well in the overall standings. It isn’t always horsepower and big bucks that can win a long endurance race and we’re going to give it our best shot!”

Ray brings over 20 years of experience in teaching high performance driving and racing to the team. She was a member of the inaugural Women’s Global GT Racing Series with the American Lemans organization and has raced successfully in Porsche Club Racing, BMW Club Racing, and NASA. She will be campaigning the Crevier MINI with SCCA in the 2004 season.

In addition to being a Client Advisor on the sales team at Crevier BMW, Ray is also a principal in Driving Concepts Intl, a mother of three and a proud grandmother of one-year old Cameron.

Joining Ray in this adventure will be an interesting, talented crew of drivers – Geoff Auberlen, brother of Ace BMW Motorsports Team Driver Bill Auberlen, will bring his talents and sponsor, Pit Bull Energy Drink.

Geoff’s racing experience includes go-karts, formula cars and sports cars . Geoff has competed in both the American Lemans Series and Rolex Grand Am Series. He has driven endurance races at both the 24 hours of Daytona and the 12 Hour Petite Lemans at Road Atlanta. Auberlen has enjoyed a number of top 5 finishes and has never finished out of the top 10.

Auberlen’s sponsor, Pit Bull is one of many products offered by the Hip Hop Beverage Corporation. Made in the USA, PIT BULL has received the highest rating (5 Star) for taste by BevNET.

Rounding out the all-star driver team will be Darren Young, David Mecey and Jonathan Lawson.

Jonathan is the editor of IRONMAN MAGAZINE and has worked in driver training with Driving Concepts and been an instructor with the BMW CCA. He has experience in road racing with NASA Endurance Racing.

Darren Young has been successfully racing for many years with SCCA, NASA, Vintage Racing and many other organizations. In addition to racing and teaching, Darren is well known in the automotive industry as a product introduction specialists, working with numerous ride-and-drive programs.

Professional Photographer, David Mecey is also an instructor with BMW CCA and has experience in NASA endurance racing. David and his television production company, NewDef Media, will be conducting interviews and filming briefly during the race for an upcoming television pilot on motor sports entitled Motor Mania HD. Shot with the latest in high definition technology, the project is partially sponsored by Valvoline.

The Crevier Mini’s was raced successfully this year in SCCA stock class by Klaus Kindor, Sales Manager for Crevier. This is the first attempt at a major endurance race and has had the full support of Crevier BMW – the number one BMW Dealership in the United States. On the Team lending technical support will be Drew Russell and Shane Portnoff, members of the Crevier Mini Service Staff.

Ray says the race will be especially meaningful to Team Crevier as they paid final respects to the owner, Bob Crevier, at memorial services today. “Mr. Crevier was the epitome of ‘never giving up’ and of ‘going the distance’”, says Ray. “We want to exemplify that spirit in this race”.

Sponsorship contributors to the Team Crevier Mini efforts have been Toyo Tires, Sparco, Meguiars and Racing Dynamics.
