Yokohama Teams Dominate 25 Hour NASA Race at Thunderhill
Fullerton, California (December 12, 2003) -- In Yokohama’s first full-on effort at the annual 25 Hour NASA Race at the Thunderhill Park racetrack in Northern California, Yokohama-supported teams won the event overall and won each of the classes that its teams entered against a very competitive field of 73 cars.

Finishing first and second overall, as well as first and second in the fastest ES class, were two 2002 Porsche GT3 Carrera Cup cars from Glenn Yee Motorsports of Newport Beach, CA. The overall winner, class winner and holder of the fastest race lap was the #64 car driven by Geoff Escalette, Craig Stanton, Hugh Plumb, Dave Royce, Kim Wolfkill and Kelly Collins. The second place car #26 was driven by Brian Cunningham, John Stott, Mike Lewis, Kelly Collins, Geoff Escalette and Craig Stanton. Both cars completed 622 laps, at total of 1,866 miles (the distance from Denver, CO. to Orlando, FL.) on a 3-mile course, 8 laps ahead of the third place car.

“We went into the race with 100% confidence that we would finish the race,” said Glenn Yee, Team Manager for Glenn Yee Motorsports “We not only finished the race we took the first and second place finishes. It was the combination of drivers, crew and tires that got us to the finish.”

The first and second place Porsches competed on Yokohama ADVAN racing slicks.

Finishing 16th overall and first in the E1 class was the Japanese Honda Accord (Acura TSX in the US) constructed and entered by the famous Japanese Honda tuner, Spoon Sport.

Finishing 63rd and 68th overall, but first and second in the EM class, were two Mini Coopers entered by Mini of North Scottsdale (AZ) and Mini of San Francisco (CA).

The Spoon Honda and the two Mini Coopers competed on DOT-approved Yokohama ADVAN A032R tires.

“We are extremely pleased to have done so well on our first appearance at this event,” said Art Michalik, Yokohama’s Director of Marketing Communications. “We were very impressed with the organization of the event and the competitiveness of the field,’ he added, “particularly with the professionalism shown by the teams we supported.”
