NASA AGAIN BREAKS NEW GROUND IN ANNOUNCING CREATION OF NEW CLUB RACING SERIES

The National Auto Sport Association (NASA) is pleased to announce the creation of an exciting new club racing series, initially to be concentrated on the West coast. The new series, to be known as the North American Bimmer Series, will feature BMW race cars exclusively and will be directed by experienced club racers and managed by former officials from BMW club racing.

The goal of the North American Bimmer Series is to bring to the United States the close competition of some of the great European touring car races with an emphasis on precision handling and thoughtful car preparation. Competition will be conducted using the “13/13” rules typically used in vintage race series. While technical guidelines are still being finalized, they will be similar to the BMW CCA club racing rules which most participants will likely already be familiar with.

Cars eligible to compete range from the famous world beating E30 M3s, to vintage 2002s, to the awesome latest generation E46 M3s. Series cars will be divided into three basic classes, starting with nearly stock “touring” type cars to full-blown race prepared track-only cars. Among the models eligible to participate will be the new MINI Cooper models, which are among the most popular new cars on the market today, including the MINI Cooper S, which due to its supercharged engine is ineligible for many other series such as the SCCA.

The new series emphasis on encouraging participation through access to a well managed program is typical of NASA’s commitment to providing opportunities for roadracing to as wide a participant base as possible. By running the series races in conjunction with other NASA events including races as well as HPDE (High Performance Driving Events, where participants drive their own cars on track in a progressive skills development program) awareness and therefore growth of the North American Bimmer Series will be further advanced at each event.
