JUNIOR ADVANCEMENT PROVISIONS
This
following criteria should be met before a minor, under the age of 16 will be
issued a competition license:
1)
Approval
from the National Executive Director, Jerry Kunzman. Approval is based in part on:
a.
An
interview with the parent(s)
b.
An
interview with the minor, with parent(s) present, and with their consent, if
necessary.
c.
Parent(s)
understanding of the extreme risks involved.
d.
Parent(s)
willingness to assume those risks by all parties.
e.
Personal
assessment of the parent’s overall attitude towards sportsmanship
f.
Personal
assessment of the minor’s overall attitude towards sportsmanship
g.
A
promise to learn and understand all applicable rules.
h.
A
promise to ensure that a Minor Waiver Release Form is submitted for
each event.
i.
Evaluation
of the minor academic standing.
2)
Submission
of the appropriate licensing and membership fees
3)
Submission
of copies of all past credentials, awards, etc. pertaining to driving
experience
4)
Submission
of a passport photo
5)
Submission
of a current semester report card.
6)
Submission
of a current NASA Medical Form.
7)
Pass
a written test based on the rules and conduct of racing. 100% is passing (administered locally at
first event).
8)
Obtain
the approval of the applicable series steward.
12.2
Participant Eligibility and Requirements
Any
driver wishing to enter a NASA sanctioned road race, must meet the following
requirements:
1.
Be at least 18 years old (16 or over with parental consent**).
2.
Hold a currently valid state driver’s license.**
3.
Have use of an automobile that meets NASA’s technical
requirements.
4.
Hold a NASA, or a NASA sanctioned car club, current
membership.
5.
Have proper safety equipment, as per the CCR.
6.
Fully pay all applicable fees.
7.
Have no outstanding debts with NASA or NASA’s affiliates.
8.
Have knowledge of all of rules found in the Club Codes and Regulations, and fully
agree to abide by them.
9.
All drivers must be deemed physically fit by their physician
to participate in a high stress and physically demanding sport such as auto
racing.
10. Submit
a signed waiver to registration at each event.
11. Entrant
must get their car teched before going to registration.
12. Hold
a valid NASA competition license or meet section #Error! Reference source not found..
13. Drivers
must present their license card for inspection when requested to do so by a
NASA Official.

3 Minors
No
one under 18 years of age (16 years of age,**
with parental consent) is allowed to be on the track. The hot pits (pit lane) are considered part of the
racetrack. A minor release form must be
filled out and be on file with NASA at every event for 16 and 17 year old
participants. All minor participants
should have at least one parent or legal guardian present at all times.
Persons under 16 years of age may, under certain
circumstances, be allowed to participate in on-track activities, including but
not limited to: HPDE (open tracks, driving schools), racing events, hill
climbs, autocross, etc. The following
criteria must be met before a minor, under the age of 16 years, may be allowed
to participate:
- Parental
consent must be made and a completed and signed minor waiver form must be
on file with the local NASA office.
- The
Regional Director must approve, and should have specific permission from
the Executive Director.
- The
minor must have some prior experience to justify the on-track activity as
being reasonably safe and prudent.
- The
performance of the vehicle driven by the minor must be reasonable and safe
given the minor’s prior track experience.
- All
NASA safety rules and precautions must be followed.
- It is
required that at least one parent or legal guardian be present at the
event.

It is strongly recommended that the parent or legal
guardian accompany the minor during any instructional periods.
