  Wireless Timing and Scoring Instructions
Overview

Northern California NASA is pleased to announce that Timing & Scoring information for the upcoming 25 Hours Of  Thunderhill Raceway Park will be available for all to access directly from pit and paddock.

We have experimented with broadcasting the information via Wi-Fi for the last several months and concluded that the logistics, limited range, reliability and expense associated with managing a portable Wi-Fi environment exceeded the benefits.  Note- there is currently a third party WiFi  service that is available in some areas of the paddock.

We have adopted an alternate distribution technology that addresses all the issues we found during the Wi-Fi experiment and has been used by other sanctioning bodies very successfully. We will be distributing T&S output from our AMB timing and scoring system via 900MHz radio signal from a radio modem with a 6Dbi Omni-directional antenna.

To receive and display T&S data you will need a computer, the RMonitor program and a either one of two models, serial interface (X09-019PKC-R) or USB interface (X09-019-PKC-U). [Note- These are 900Mhz units preconfigured with an internal data transfer rate of 19200 bps. The serial unit requires an external power source (9v battery or wall plug).]

The MaxStream modem, may be ordered from MaxStream directly at 866-765-9885. The price is regularly $250.00, mention your NASA membership and you will receive a discount price of $190 plus shipping. NASA thanks MaxStream (www.MaxStream.net) for their support in offering this opportunity for our members.
