Ohio-Indiana Region has announced their 2003 schedule here.
Richmond, CA- April 16, 2002 The National Auto Sport Association (NASA) is pleased to announce the creation of the new NASA Ohio/Indiana Chapter. The chapter will be run by Lawrence Mansier and will host NASA events beginning in July 2002.
Lawrence has been involved in Autocross, Driving Schools, Instructing, and Road Racing since 1992. Lawrence has been campaigning a 1978 Corvette since that time, racking up dozens of Autocross wins and a fair share of Road Racing honors. Lawrence has always had a dream of racing competitively in the world-renowned Daytona 24 Hours and his involvement with NASA is an outgrowth of that desire to be more involved with motorsports. Lawrence commented "I am excited about bringing the NASA spirit to the Midwest. The response from local racers has been incredible! This region is going to be awesome. I'll see you at the track!" The chapter will also be working with local karting associations to help develop young drivers into professional racers as well as making a concerted effort to help raise money for local Children's Hospitals.
"I am very pleased to welcome Lawrence to our team and we are looking forward to helping him bring NASA's programs to racers in the Ohio Valley", said John Lindsey, NASA's Chief Divisional Director, "Lawrence has some great ideas for the Chapter and the interest he has generated in the program so far is remarkable."
Events for the Ohio/Indiana Chapter will initially be run at Putnam Park, Indianapolis Raceway Park, Nelson Ledges, and Mid-Ohio Raceway. Expansion plans include the new BeaveRun facility near Pittsburgh, PA as well as other facilities in the area. The first event will be held at Putnam Park on July 12, 2002 and the season will continue with dates at BeaveRun on August 9 (tentative) and September 2, Nelson Ledges on September 21-22, Mid-Ohio on October 4, BeaveRun in October (date TBA), and Putnam Park on November 2-3.
