NASA's Spec SRT racing series (SRT) takes the powerful Dodge SRT4 and gives it a class of it's own. This turbocharged sport compact sedan has proven itself at the drag strip, off-road rallies, and road courses since it's release in 2003. The SRT4 is a great way to get horsepower and handling on a budget, but road racers have had a difficult time finding a competitive class for the SRT4 that allowed for the common modifications that SRT4 enthusiasts have been making since the car was introduced. The SRT class has been designed to allow for popular aftermarket upgrades such as the Mopar Stage 2 Turbo Upgrade Kit that can boost horsepower and torque as high as 280hp and 300ft-lbs and the TCE 13" big brake kit. Aftermarket coilovers, sway bars, air intakes, exhaust systems, radiators, clutches, big brake kits, wheels and DOT approved race tires are all allowed with minor restrictions. However, high dollar engine balancing, lightening, aftermarket turbochargers, exotic suspensions and transmissions are not allowed to keep costs down and the playing field level. Moderate weight reduction is also permitted, with a final minimum combined vehicle and driver weight of 2950 pounds. The modded SRT4 is just plain fun to drive on the track and this series will allow drivers to demonstrate their skill and talent while having a great time on a reasonable budget. These cars will provide a great show that fans and sponsors really appreciate.
